Texas Chapter Awards

One of the goals of the Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians is to recognize excellence and contributions to internal medicine. As a way of achieving this goal, the Chapter has a number or awards we give out annually to recognize the outstanding professional accomplishments and altruistic generosity of our members. 

*NEW* Bluebonnet Award

The Bluebonnet Women in Medicine Award goes to a woman in medicine who cultivates and elevates women in Texas. 
Examples of achievements may include but are not limited to:

  • Engaging women through participation in existing meetings and development of new events and resources specifically for women and allies of women in medicine in Texas
  • Promoting women within the College through Fellowship, Mastership, and through local and national leadership positions
  • Educating fellow internists, allies of women in medicine, and the general public about the impact of gender on health and wellness, including disparities and discrimination in the workplace
  • Mentoring women physicians through educational, professional, and personal career goals
  • Advocating for allyship, gender diversity, equity, and inclusion in all workplace, local, and national policies and activities
    Awardees may be self-nominated. 

Early Career Physician Leader of the Year Award

The most prestigious recognition of achievement for early career physicians, TXACP Early Career Physician Leader of the Year Award  recipients are recognized for their outstanding achievement in the areas of academics, leadership, and/or advocacy for the field of internal medicine. GIMSPP Decade of Service Award

The General Internal Medicine Statewide Preceptorship Program Decade of Service Award honors dedicated preceptors who have taught medical students in their practices for at least seven of past ten years through our program. We thank these devoted preceptors for the time, knowledge, and energy they have selflessly given to the future physicians of Texas!

The General Internal Medicine Statewide Preceptorship Program Emerald Award honors highly active and dedicated preceptors who have taught medical students in their practices for the past twenty years through our program. We thank these devoted preceptors for the time, knowledge, and energy they have selflessly given to the future physicians of Texas!

Texas Chapter Laureate Award

The Texas Chapter Laureate Award honors Fellows and Masters of ACP who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in medical care, education, research, and service to their communities, Chapter, and the College. The recipient of this award shall bear the title Laureate of the Texas Chapter. The awardees shall be senior physicians and Fellows or Masters of long-standing, with acknowledged excellence and peer approval in the field of internal medicine. In addition, the awardees should have served their Chapter with distinction. Exceptional circumstances may modify these requirements.

Texas Chapter Volunteerism and Community Service Award

The Texas Chapter Volunteerism and Community Service Award recognizes a member of TXACP for significant community impact through their medically related volunteer service, independent of training or position requirements. Recipients of this award have distinguished themselves as true humanitarians to be honored for their voluntary contributions in medicine.

TXACP Services Snyder/Chumley Advocate of The Year Award

TXACP Services, the advocacy arm of the Texas Chapter of the ACP, is pleased to present the Advocate of the Year award, named in honor of the first recipients, Ned Snyder III, MD, MACP, and Delbert L. Chumley, MD, FACP. The awardee must be a registered Key Contact who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the areas of legislative advocacy and grassroots activism. The Advocate of the Year has consistently communicated concerns on behalf of TXACP Services to elected officials on issues and unfailingly responded to legislative alerts, as well as served as a community spokesperson on behalf of internal medicine and patients. In addition, this person has expanded the Chapter's advocacy program, recruited new Key Contacts, and actively participated in Leadership Day visits and/or other meetings with legislators and staff.
