ACP Recruit -a-Resident Rewards Program

ACP's Recruit-a-Resident Rewards Program provides education resources to residency programs that recruit residents to become ACP Associate Members.
The TXACP Services Legislative Champion award is presented in recognition of outstanding legislative leadership, demonstrated support for medical education funding and improved access to quality health care, sponsorship of TXACP Services legislation, and commendable voting records on issues of importance to medicine and to patients.

Warren Chisum
State Representative, District 88
Warren Chisum was elected to the Texas Legislature in November 1988. He is presently serving his 10th term with the support and encouragement of his wife Omega Chisum. Mr. Chisum represents House District 88, which includes nineteen counties located in the Texas Panhandle.

For the 80th legislative session Mr. Chisum was appointed Chair of the Appropriations Committee and also appointed to serve on the Energy Resources Committee. During past legislative sessions Mr. Chisum has served on the Environmental Regulation Committee, House Committee on County Affairs and the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission.
Mr. Chisum is a founding member and President of the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute, a not-for-profit entity which acts as a source of legislative policy information for the public. Additionally, he served three years as president of the Texas Conservative Coalition (TCC), and now serves on the Board of Directors. TCC is a non-partisan organization of over 95 state legislators who work together to uphold the principles of limited government, free enterprise, individual liberties and traditional family values.
Outside of the state, Mr. Chisum is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), which is a national research organization whose bipartisan membership is comprised of state legislators. In addition to ALEC, Mr. Chisum is a member of the National Conference of State Legislators, where he was recently named Chair of the Agriculture, Environment and Energy Committee.
Mr. Chisum is an active member in Energy Council, an organization of legislators from ten energy-producing states, who address energy and environmental policy issues. He has most recently served on Energy Council's Executive Committee and is the immediate past Chairman of the CLEER Board of Directors (Center for Legislative Energy and Environmental Research), Energy Council's research affiliate.
Mr. Chisum has been honored with many prestigious awards during his legislative tenure. In 1993, Mr. Chisum was honored with the Families First Award by the Concerned Women for America of Texas. In addition, he received the Outstanding Leadership Award by the Texas Christian Coalition.
Mr. Chisum was born in 1938 in Miami, Texas, and graduated from Lefors High School in 1957. He and Omega have two married children and five grandchildren. Mr. Chisum is a member of First Baptist Church of Pampa, the Gray County Christian Coalition, and the Pampa Masonic Lodge. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Scottish Rite Dormitory at the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a past president of the Pampa Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Chisum was president of J.T. Richardson Trucking from 1972 until he sold the business in 1985. He is currently owner of Omega Energy and Wolf Creek Exploration Company which are oil and gas production and exploration companies. Mr. Chisum also operates the Chisum Ranch in Roberts County.
