A clinical vignette is a report of one or more cases that illustrates a new disease entity, or a prominent or unusual clinical feature of an established disease. It may include a summary of pertinent patient history, physical findings, laboratory data, or management description.
Patient-oriented research. Research conducted with human subjects (or on material of human origin such as tissues, specimens and cognitive phenomena) for which an investigator (or colleague) directly interacts with human subjects. This area of research includes: mechanisms of human disease; therapeutic interventions; clinical trials; development of new technologies; analysis of existing datasets; epidemiologic and behavioral studies; outcomes research and health services research.
Submissions can report on efforts to improve patient safety or outcomes measurement. Such efforts may be projects developed and initiated to promote patient safety and/or processes that have improved or created a safer environment for patients. Abstracts may also be submitted that relate to the use of outcome data, how to measure and convert data into information.
ACP has put together materials to help you prepare your research and presentation. From writing the abstract to preparing for presentation and tips on visual aids, we encourage you to review these resources in planning for your presentation.Creating a Voice-Over-PowerPoint Presentation

Poster Presentation Guidelines

  • Posters must fit within the poster board surface area, and posters are displayed on cork base with pushpins. Please note, poster size requirements may change annually and presenters must confirm size requirements with chapter. Note: 2023 Posters must be sized to 24" H x 36" W or Max 24" H x 48" W. Two to Four posters will be displayed per 4' x 8' Poster Board onsite
  • All illustrations should be made beforehand. Bear in mind that your graphics may be viewed or read from distances of about 3' or more. Charts, drawings, and illustrations might well be similar to those you would use in making slides; preferably simple and more heavily drawn. Simple use of color can add emphasis effectively.
  • Do not mount your poster on heavy board because these may be difficult to keep in position on the poster boards.
  • Hand-lettered material should contain appropriately heavy lettering, at least 3/8" high. Typed material should be prepared in a large, legible font.
  • Keep illustrative material simple.
  • Abstracts may be submitted as an uploaded file
  • Non-Competition Clinical Vignette electronic posters will be viewed in the Texas ACP EventMobi Meeting App. Please submit as PDF or PowerPoint file.
  • Additional presentation tips and poster format suggestions from ACP are available online
