Candidate Statement:
I’m a private practice, primary care internist serving only patients on Medicare. I’ve served ACP both locally and nationally, and have learned that Texas has a lot to teach our country and our profession. Y’all, Texas is huge. Most of our colleagues are aware that we like bluebonnets and belt buckles, but very few outside of Texas know how truly diverse our state is. From our bilingual border towns to our multi-lingual metropolises, Texas physicians serve a population that simultaneously looks like those of the mid-west, coastal states, and even our international chapters. As governor-elect of our Texas Southern Chapter, I will ensure that Texas is not just at the table, but helping lead conversations about meeting patients where they are, supporting practices in under-served regions, and prioritizing physicians’ health and wellness when proposing internal policy or external advocacy efforts. Thank you for your service and your support.

Candidate Statement:
I am very honored to run for the Texas Southern Governor position. The ACP is home for me! And
as such, I feel compelled to serve the professional organization that 25 years ago opened its doors to me and has been an integral part of my professional development. I bring to the College a unique perspective of medicine shaped by my experience as an educator and by my work with some of the most vulnerable populations, victims of torture, other crimes, and forced displacement. I also contribute a wealth of experiences learned while serving in different leadership positions at the Chapter level. As Governor, I envision to show to the younger generation – students, residents, and fellows – the vibrant and relevant nature of the ACP.

The election is taking place between October 1 and November 5. Members can vote onlineor by mail-in ballot. The ballot will be mailed to you and includes your ACP Member Number and Election Passcode that are required in order to cast a vote.  Those eligible to vote include MACPs, FACPs, Members, and Resident/Fellow Members with an election date of 9/1/2019 or earlier.
